The Leadbetter family have been involved in the fishing industry for over 35 years. David Snr started the business with a small creel boat working from Millport, Isle of Cumbrae on the west coast of Scotland landing lobster, crab and langoustine.
3 decades later our family has grown, along with our business. We now have 3 fishing vessels based at Pittenweem, fife just along the coast from the Shellfish Shack.
David Jnr skippers the latest addition to our fleet – Inga Ness K501, and along with Our Maria OB150 skippered by local lad Finlay Innes these 2 boats are involved in a Scottish Government/Marine Scotland scientific trial for the hand harvesting of razor clams. Our third vessel, Maxine ML129 fishes locally for langoustine.
Rhona, the youngest member of the family manages the Shellfish Shack, while mum Ailsa deals with the accounts and admin.
Shellfish and seafood in general is something that is at the heart of our family and that we are passionate about – we are proud to be working together as a small part of the Scottish fishing industry, bringing the freshest seafood to visitors and locals alike in this beautiful corner of Scotland.
